We've been going 100 miles a minute since last Thursday......so, here's a recap! I'll try and make it short and sweet:)
Thursday:
- Kris, John's PT, brought a stander for him to use for awhile and he LOVES it!!!! It allows him to stand and play without me being directly behind him to catch him when he falls.
- His feeding pump broke that night:( We had to gavage him until Apria delivered a new one...........AT MIDNIGHT!!!! I guess better late than never though!
Friday (our marathon day):
- Went to our appointment at Hangers to try on (and pick up) our new AFO's and shoes
- We had to cancel Speech because our 1st appointment took longer than expected.
- We then headed down to PCH for our emptying study which took forever. They had to strap John to a table, feed him (which the nurse pushed through to fast and made him vomit), and then watch his belly empty for an HOUR. He did great though.........thankfully I brought a bag full of toys and books and the hospital had a bunch of movies we got watch. We won't get the results until next week so we just wait and see.
Saturday:
- John's cousin Ashley came over to play and help out with John for the afternoon..........Ash told me that Grammy said she would pay her money if she played with John the entire time:) She did do a great job and John had so much fun with her.

Too cute! I especially love the photo of him in the stander. He looks so kissable in that one.
We always had problems with Apria when we used them. We almost ran out of O2 when Cooper was really little. Another time they brought us 3 broken apnea monitors- in a row! Glad they got you the pump.
I just bought that shirt for Coop to wear on Scott's bday.
Apria woosed out on us, too. They tried to deliver oxygen tanks to us WHILE we were being trained on the monitors in the NICU (now how smart is that?); they fought us tooth and nail on getting us two tanks and set ups and thought that it would be perfectly OK to have 100 feet of cannula trailing from Hallie's room upstairs, down the hall, down our winding staircase, and through the dining room. We pointed out that this was surely a recipe for disaster and probably violated all sorts of codes; and they screwed up delivery several times, so we had to have her on small tanks that we changed out and that lacked humidifcation. Other than that they were great! We are SOOOO glad to be rid of them.
Onto to more important stuff: is it possible that John is getting EVEN cuter than ever? He looks like such a big boy now, especially in his stander. I hope the AFOs and shoes get him feeling more stable and that he starts standing and cruising around full time. Then you are never going to be able to stop him? How cool is that?
I agree with Abby--how can it be that John keeps getting cuter and cuter?! I love the picture of him in the stander--I worry about that glint in his eye though. He might lke independence a little too much which I think, loosely translated, means something like, "Lace up your running shoes, Mommy, because I'll be keeping you on your toes!"
I'm interested to see how John does with the AFOs. We aren't picking Ava's up until August 7th. That ought to give you just enough time to figure out if there are any special tricks to getting a kid to like them, not fight them, and actually WANT to wear them. Then you can share those tips with me! Did you have to get new shoes to fit the AFOs? Ava needs new shoes and I don't know whether or not to wait until we get her braces or just go shopping now...
