This is the amazing journey of our two miracles. John Craig was born on November 30, 2005 at 24 weeks and 5 days gestation. He weighed 1 pound 8 ounces and was 12 inches long. John is a true miracle and an inspiration to all that meet him! Hope Amanda, our perfect little girl, is currently recovering from two brain surgeries to remove a 6cm mass from the center of her brain. Hope represents everything good in this world and she too is an inspiration to all.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Christmas 2008

As mentioned previously, we had the best Christmas ever!!!

Christmas Eve was spent at Grammy and Papa's. John thoroughly enjoyed cruising around in the desert out back and riding in his car.

Before opening presents John ate 3 plate fulls of chips (and Daddy took a nap!)

John was very excited about his gift from Grammy and Papa....a new Art easel.

On Christmas morning Grams, Grandpa, Uncle Craig and Aunt Alli came over bright and early to open presents.

Aunt Alli and John opening gifts.

John loves his new chair,

And his new bike from Grams and Grandpa.

And, his tunnel and tee pee from Santa Clause!

I don't know who had more fun playing in it, Aunt Alli or John:)

After we cleaned up the mess....

John ventured out in the cold to try out his new bike!

We truly could not have had a better Christmas!

Best Christmas Ever

Here are a couple pictures to tide you over!
As you can see, we had a wonderful Christmas.....John still has about 10 presents left to open. At the rate we are going, we'll be celebrating for another few weeks...which is fine by me!

We were blessed to be able to spend time with both of our families and couldn't be more excited that Uncle Craig and Aunt Alli were here!

I need to gather pictures off every ones cameras.....so, stay tuned for a real Christmas 2008 post!

We've Been Busy

We've definitely been busy this Holiday season.....and enjoying every minute of it!

John's been....

Visiting Santa (the same Santa that came to visit him in the NICU,)

Watching movies on Grandpa's computer,

Riding his horse, Poco,

Playing with Uncle Craig,

Reading with Grams,

And, flying like an airplane!

We are gearing up for the big Christmas Eve bash at Grammy and Papa's and then home to bed before Santa arrives. Grams, Grandpa, Uncle Craig, and Aunt Alli will join us Christmas morning to open presents and stockings.....and then off to Aunt Alli's sisters house for Christmas dinner.

Fun times!!!

1st Gingerbread House

I don't even need to tell you that he enjoyed himself (or that he enjoyed eating the gum drops....well, licking the sugar off and then spitting them out).....the pictures say it all.

And on another note, we LOVE his preschool class (and teachers!)

Eventful Weekend!

Below are a few cute pictures from Thanksgiving that I forgot to post!

Climbing the wall with Grandpa

Blowing out his candles.....his birthday celebrations lasted a little over a week!

He even gave his cake a hug. If you look closely you can see red frosting on his chin from the hug:)

Well, here goes with the updates...

Friday - We spent a good chunk of our day down in the ER at PCH....his button had fallen out sometime during the night (this has never happened before) and by the time he woke up and we noticed it the hole was almost closed. We couldn't get a new button in so we packed the little guy up and headed down to the hospital. They ended up putting a foley catheter in to stretch the hole and after what seemed like forever they were able to get a new button in. The day had a very happy ending though....Chris, John's primary NICU nurse, was working that day so she was able to visit with us in the ER!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday - We (Mommy) wrapped ALL the Christmas presents and put them under our tree.

Sunday - We delivered all of our gifts at the mall for our Christmas angle and then went to Aunt Jean's for her annual Christmas get together. John had fun playing with his cousins and going on walks with Grammy and Papa. He also took his first face plant earlier that day. He now has a lovely scab on and under his little nose. I am sure it is the first of many.

Monday - He had his 3 year check up with his pediatrician. Our big guy weighed in at 29 pounds (with clothes and shoes on but who cares) and is 35 inches long. The pedi. was thrilled to see him walking and has high hopes that he'll be talking away at his next visit.

Now, we are off to visit his preschool class!!!!

Quick Update.....

Just a quick update (because I've been a bad blogger!)

  • John loves the bells in the above pictures.....and loves to shake them while we sing Jingle Bells.

  • He got Botox injections today. I think we are going to see huge results this time around because he is walking so much more.

  • We got a Toddler bed (thanks Renneckars) and set it up in the play room. He/we aren't quite ready for it but at least it's here when the time comes. He is showing interest in it though and will climb up into it and lay his head down....with a huge smile on his face.
