This is the amazing journey of our two miracles. John Craig was born on November 30, 2005 at 24 weeks and 5 days gestation. He weighed 1 pound 8 ounces and was 12 inches long. John is a true miracle and an inspiration to all that meet him! Hope Amanda, our perfect little girl, is currently recovering from two brain surgeries to remove a 6cm mass from the center of her brain. Hope represents everything good in this world and she too is an inspiration to all.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Team John!!!

The BIG walk is less than a week away and we are so pumped up. We picked up the shirts/onesies (all 55 of them) today.......they look GREAT! However, John's shirt is by far the cutest:) I also ordered Mylar balloons to represent the Phoenix Children's Hospital NICU Graduating class of 2006! Tied to John's stroller will be 5 blue star balloons (each with a name written on it) in Honor of:

  • John
  • Sammie
  • Carter
  • Paige
  • Cole

And, 3 red heart balloons (also with a name on each) in Memory of:

  • Carson
  • Carly
  • Kaylee

All 8 of these babies were born at Good Sam (between the end of Nov 05 and the beginning of Jan 06)............and all of them were born at only 24 weeks gestation. They are true miracles!

K-I think we'll have enough to send you all some (we bought extra just in case!) Plus, our walk is the weekend before yours so we can just send ours to you!!!!

Chrystal.......glad you like them! I thought John's was pretty funny.......considering ours boys are pretty darn tough....no more wimpy white boys here:)

The onesies are too cute for words....If we were in Scottsdale, we'd be walking with you guys!

Also, I love the idea of the baloons. We're walking here in Philly with another family who lost a twin and we spent so much time in the NICU this summer that we got to know most of the surviving micros and, alas, most of the micros who did not survive. Our NICU had a sort of odd set up (well, I'm not sure how odd, since I've never been anywhere else) where there were three acute nurseries, and with HIPAA and all, it wasn't so easy to know who was who; at times there were more than 40 babies in the unit. I'd hate to leave anyone out, but I adore the baloon idea so I will ask our nurse friends who are coming to dinner on Thursday if they think this would be a good idea.

I hope John is feeling better!

*snarf*

You could totally market the "Full Term is for Wimps" shirt. We'd buy one. ;^)

John's shirt is awesome--I totally agree with Sarah that you could market that one!

Hope he's feeling better and those antibiotics are clearing up that ear infection.

I wish we could all walk together.....that'd be too much fun!

Abby, the balloons are for the 3 families that we became friends with. We are actually the only family able to walk this year......Tobie is having her baby (as you know) and the other two families will be out of town. If I did balloons for the entire PCH NICU.......John's stroller would float away:)

I love the shirts! How cute is the pic with John's hair swept to the side ( Easter pics) and your hair looks so good with highlights. I just love you!
