18 Months!!!

I still can't believe that my little boy is 18 months old.............how did that happen? Anyhow, our 18 month check up went well. Unfortunately, he still weighs 21 pounds 12 ounces.........the exact same amount he weighed at his 15 month check up. No worries though........his pediatrician and PT say he's fine!

Again, his pediatrician was amazed at how well he is doing. She couldn't get over the fact that he is crawling. She said that she had hoped he'd being doing this well (ie..crawling) by the time he was 15 years old (if we were lucky.) Wow.....God is good and you all, along with us, get to witness a true miracle in the works. She also said (in her words)......he looks sickly good!!!!! She did however say that he would probably walk a little wobbly (his PT has said this before also)..........but hey, he'll walk!!!!!!!

He did very well with his shots and for the first time ever, he didn't cry!!!!!! He is one tough cookie (OK.......that totally sounded like my mom!) Anyhow, we don't have to go back for another check up for 6 months........it'll be his 2 year check up. Can you believe it..........in 6 months I'll have a 2 year old!!!!!! Bring on the terrible 2's!

His canine tooth has finally poked through and there's nothing better than to sink your sore little teeth into an ice cold Red Bull:):):)


John is now a crawling machine. He's EVERYWHERE and as tired as I am at the end of the day.............I LOVE IT!!! He loves to crawl with something in his hand.....a car, the phone, a blanket, and today..........pages of Mommy's magazine! Good thing I have already read it!

Memorial Day Weekend!

We had a fun weekend.......a lot of hanging out and eating out. Yesterday, Jamie's parents came over to my parents house and we had a BBQ. Of course John LOVED being spoiled by ALL of the Grandparents.

Today John's speech (feeding) therapist suggested that we need to let John feel hungry. Remember, he has no idea what hunger is because he has been tube fed his entire life.......all 18 months of it:) So, at our pedi appointment tomorrow I will talk it over with her and see what she has to say. I understand that this needs to be done but it is sooooooo hard to cut back on his food (G-tube) intake........again, those darn numbers are drilled into my head and I don't want him to lose any weight.........fat is good for the brain!!!!! Anyhow, we'll see what she has to say.

And, on another note.......I am REALLY excited for Friday...........Auntie Shernaz is coming into town and we are going wedding dress shopping! And then..........Aunt Katie, Aunt Corrie, and Aunt Shannon are coming over for dinner!!!!! Notice how ALL my best friends are called Auntie?????

Haircut #2

John was up bright and early (5:30am)........as always! So, we packed up the car (with all of our feeding supplies).....and called Grams and Grandpa (while en route) to inform them we were coming for breakfast:) Mom/Dad...some things never change:)

After a yummy breakfast, Grams gave John a haircut. He looks as handsome as ever!!!

Breakfast in the backyard.....and we're still in our PJ's.....what a GREAT life!!!

Grandparents are the BEST!!!

John had a wonderful time with Grams and Grandpa last night. I told him that he'd better behave and sleep through the night........remember last sleep over????? I'll give you a hint.......stomach flu....ALL night:( Anyhow, John listened to his Mommy and he slept from 6:30pm-5:30am......that's my boy!!!!!

School's Out.....

....For SUMMER!!! Yaaaahhhhhoooo for summer break..........just one of the many perks of being a teacher:) Anyhow, as you can see by the pictures, John LOVES the pool.........so, you will be seeing a lot more pool pictures in the upcoming posts!!!!! In Arizona, this is how you spend your summers and we can't wait!

Other John news...

• His crawling is getting better each day.
• He is trying to pull up (on his knees...not standing) on EVERYTHING....lots of bumps and bruises:(
• His 2nd molar is in......total of 10 teeth!
• He spent the night with Grams and Grandpa last night so Mommy and Daddy could go out for their 4th Anniversary!!!!!
• I am going to contact a nutritionist in Tucson next week and hopefully start him on a blenderized diet via G-tube.
• He has his 18 month pedi check up next week.........more shots:(
• We have the DREADED neurology appointment on June 4th.........note to self, in one ear out the other. I have to remember that this particular Dr. has now told 3 other families that I know, that their child as a genetic disorder (which none of them do.) If you recall from our last visit, she claimed John had a genetic disorder too and that we shouldn't have any more children......where she got this info. from we don't know.
  

Fun Weekend!

We had a great time with Katie, Grace, and Ruby this weekend. We played, swam, went on walks, and chased Grace all over the place:) It was a fun time and we really enjoyed their company!!!!

We tried to get a picture of all three of the kids but Grace had bigger and better things to do!

John and Ruby had the hots for each other and had fun sharing toys!

All three of the kids took a LONG nap........at the SAME time. So, Katie and I just relaxed and hung out.

After their nap, they were ready to play some more........

And, even gave horsey rides!

1st Place!

Last night the three of us headed out to F1 Race Factory for the March of Dimes awards ceremony! We had a wonderful time and sat with a couple who had a 27 weeker (she stopped growing at 22 weeks) and weighed 1 pound 6 ounces. Unfortunately they didn't bring her with them but they did report that she is a very spunky 3 1/2 year old who runs everywhere!!! Anyhow, we were awarded 2 plaques.........one for being the top team and another for having the most donations on-line. Go Team John!!!!! And again, thank you all so much for donating to such an important cause.........you all are helping save babies!!!!!!!!!!

Well, better go try and pick up the house. John is having his first sleepover tonight..........with 2 girls........LUCKY guy:):):)

Slimming Down!

Our little man must have heard me say..........a million times......that I need to slim down for bathing suit season because unfortunately he thought he needed to also:( He weighed in today at 21 pounds 5 ounces. As a parent of a micro preemie, these numbers are drilled into your head from day 1 and any weight lose is extremely frustrating/disappointing. However, I do have to remember he has had the stomach flu for the past 4 days and he has basically been living off of Pedialyte. Plus, he is mobile now and not just lying still all day. Anyhow, please keep the little man in your prayers to start packing on the pounds again!

I Think My Mommy's Gone Crazy!

Ummm......Mom, why am I sitting in my bath seat....in the play room???

I promise I'm not losing it.........his PT suggested it because his very muscular thighs won't fit into his Bumbo seat anymore! Hey, whatever works!

On another note.........I swear he is getting 3 more molars and his K9/fang teeth.......ALL AT ONCE! His poor little cheeks are bright red and you can tell he is very uncomfortable. I just hope they pop through soon because we have a busy week.........on top of all of his therapies we are going to an awards ceremony for the March of Dimes on Thursday night and down to Tucson on Saturday for my cousins wedding and then hopefully Katie, Grace, and Ruby will be down on Sunday for a sleep over!!!!!

The good, the bad, and the VERY cute!

The Good:

1. John had his 2nd sleep over at Grams and Grandpa's on Friday night.
2. Mommy and Daddy were able to go out and celebrate Angela's 30th birthday.......and we got to sleep in the next morning.
3. John enjoyed his new swing in the backyard.
4. Mommy got spoiled on Mother's Day.

The Bad:

1. John woke up in the middle of the night (at Grams & Grandpa's) with the stomach flu.
2. John gave Mommy the stomach flu for Mother's Day......he's so sweet:)

It's Official!

Our little man is officially crawling...........on all 4's!!!!!!!!!!! He's more like the tortoise opposed to the hare but I am certain it's just a matter of time before he really starts moving.......and boy are we going to be tired........but we can't wait! Bring it on!

Yaaaaaahhhhhooooo.......I am finally mobile!

Good Times!

As you can see by the photo, John had a great time at yet another D-Backs game! John, Daddy, and Grandpa enjoyed their afternoon at the ballpark and I enjoyed myself at my good friends baby shower.

Life is good.........and it is so much fun to finally feel "normal" again and venture out into the world!

Mr. Poopie Pants!

Here's a funny story.........so, around 7:30pm I went into John's room to start his feed. The minute I opened his door I knew he had a HUGE poop in his pants! I knew I couldn't let him sleep in it all night but I also didn't want to wake him up.........he was sound asleep. Well, I decided to roll him over and quickly change his pants...........so, now he's on his back, I've taken his PJ's off, I've taken his diaper off, I have even wiped his little bum off..........AND, he's still sound asleep!!!!!!!!!!! At this point I am feeling like a rock star:) So, I go to put his clean diaper on but before I could do so, he rolls back over to his tummy. I wish I had my camera handy because it was too cute..........he's fast asleep with just his PJ top on and his little naked bum sticking up in the air. Needless to say I ended up waking him because I HAD to put his diaper on!!!!!

Other news.........I think we are only days away from crawling! I took a good video today.........I am not sure how to post it though.
