This is the amazing journey of our two miracles. John Craig was born on November 30, 2005 at 24 weeks and 5 days gestation. He weighed 1 pound 8 ounces and was 12 inches long. John is a true miracle and an inspiration to all that meet him! Hope Amanda, our perfect little girl, is currently recovering from two brain surgeries to remove a 6cm mass from the center of her brain. Hope represents everything good in this world and she too is an inspiration to all.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Stud Muffin

Not too much to report.....

ALL therapies are going great.....and since we only have 5 therapies a week, I figured what's one more:) So, I am getting ready to enroll John (and myself) in a music class with my good friend Kim and her son Carson. I am also looking into swim lesson for the summer.

Weekend Photos

Why do weekends go by so quickly and weekdays drag on forever?

At any rate, we had a great weekend with great weather! Yesterday we went on two walks and today John was able to see all 3 sets of Grandparents...what a lucky boy!

He's getting so good at standing....even without his AFO's! I can't wait for the day he takes his first step!!!

He's Still Got It...

John just can't seem to shake this nasty cough......my poor little baby. He isn't sleeping much because of it and with all the coughing comes more vomiting:( Ohhhhhh...I hope it ends soon. However, I do realize how lucky we are that we can mange this from home.....a lot of micro-preemies are hospitalized and need oxygen & breathing treatments when they get colds. We just continue to count our blessings.....and pray for it to end:)
Soooooo, since he hasn't been sleeping much because the coughing wakes him (he was up at 6:00am) and of course he wouldn't nap, the two of us headed up to Grams and Grandpa's for the afternoon. Thanks Mom and Dad for giving me a breather!!!

Note to self...put knee pads on your son before he crawls around on the flagstone:)

Happy Hump Day

We had a wonderful lunch today at White Chocolate Grill for Gram's birthday......and then we rushed home for a nap. AND, he slept...only for an hour though. He has this darn cough that's going around (I had it for 4 weeks) and it's keeping him up at night....it also woke him up from his nap:( I took him into the ped. last week to listen to his lungs and she said they sounded GREAT....so, I guess we just wait it out.
One week down.....hopefully not many more to go.

3 Day Weekend!

We LOVE 3 day weekends....especially when Daddy is off too.

Friday night was pretty low key.....so low key that I cannot even remember what we did:) But Saturday was a fun day. It was Daddy's birthday so we (19 of us) went out for dinner and drinks. We had a lot of fun! Sunday we relaxed and today we went on a family hike. North Mountain has a paved trail but it is straight up (the entire time.) I told Jamie that I would push the stroller part of the time....boy was it tough. Jamie did most of the pushing and then I took over on the way down:)

Eating breakfast this morning...he's such a ham!!!

Multi-tasking....therapeutic listening, feeding pump, and a cheerio tower!

This is tonight....minutes after John indulged in his first Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie. I think he's in heaven:)

Giggle Monster

Isn't it ironic that John's favorite part of his favorite video is.....when baby Cookie Monster WILL NOT TAKE A NAP? He cracks up EVERY TIME....which of course makes us laugh too.

In other news....

He is pulling up to stand (and cruise) on everything....we have pillows and couch cushions everywhere:)

He slept for 14 hours straight yesterday....but, probably because he hadn't napped and the two nights prior he was up coughing all night.

He knows where his head is and evey time he hears the song....Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes....he starts tapping his head. He's soooooooooo smart!

Take A Walk With Us!

Well, it's that time of year again....March for Babies (same walk, new name!) If you're in the neighborhood (or simply want to donate,) we'd love for you to walk with us and be a part of Team John 2008!

The annual March of Dimes walk will be held on April 19th at Wesley Bolin Plaza (MUCH better location than last year.) Last years turn out was phenomenal! It was truly heart warming to see so many friends, family members, and complete strangers helping us honor our little boy and supporting a cause that is so important to our family.....a cause that saves babies!

We have been overwhelmed with the love, support, and prayers we have received (and continue to receive) since the birth of our son. Jamie and I are truly humbled to know each and every one of you.

Look at this picture of John holding my finger...now, look down at your fingertip. It really puts things into perspective doesn't it? Our God is so AWESOME!

Just imagine a life without prematurity...I know one day, all babies will be born healthy. But we have to walk to get there!!!!

To join Team John (or to make a donation)....click on the link labeled Team John at the top of the page.

We had a blast last year (despite the cold and rain) and ended up being the #1 team in the Phoenix metropolitan area raising a total of $8,370.00......SOOOOO, the bar is set even higher for 2008!

It's time to get pumped up and March to Save Babies!!!

Mr. Smartie Pants

I have temporarily moved John's red and blue chairs out of the play room in fear he will belly flop off of them again (when I am not in the room with him.) On Monday his PT suggested that I flip them over so the seat part is showing....opposed to the table part. Does that make sense? Anyhow, it sounded like a great idea until I found him like this...

At Speech today I met his new OT (she is the owner.) I have seen her before and she has always been very friendly. So, I am really looking forward to working with her and can't wait to start on Thursday.

Ramblings!

Things are going pretty good around here....can't complain about anything!

We received John's headphones (for music therapy) last week. He isn't too fond of them but somehow we are able to get him to wear them for 15 minutes a day...we need to increase it to 2x a day though.

We also received his new feeding pump...love it! It's soooooooooo itty bitty and it fits in a tiny little backpack that he can wear. P-E-R-F-E-C-T! I also love Cigna for covering the cost...100% and for also covering his pony walker (that should arrive shortly) 100%! Cigna rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some cute pictures of the BIG 24.8 pounder:)

Life is GREAT at Grams and Grandpa's!

John making a scary face:)

John's FAVORITE past time....electronics (any and all.)

And......this picture is a thing of the past!

Oh ya....my little man is no longer afraid of the grass. He was crawling all over the yard at Kurt and Kim's house yesterday. Now, we just have to see how he's going to take to the sand.
